I teach piano and saxophone from home in Crowthorne (near Wokingham) in Berkshire.
I teach a variety styles encompassing jazz, classical and popular music. It could be for graded exams, or just for fun and all ages are welcome. I am fully CRB checked.
Regardless of the style, I encourage an approach that involves ear training and the practical application of chord and scale theory (as well as reading music in the traditional way). I aim to provide a holistic approach to playing and understanding music which will serve you well whether playing with a band, an orchestra, or alone.
I have a real acoustic piano, and I play tenor, alto and soprano saxophones. If you're looking to start playing and don't already have an instrument I would be glad to advise you on what instrument to get (it is important!). In particular, if you're not sure what kind of sax you should get, look at my guide, “Help, what kind of sax should I get?”
I charge £19 per half-hour lesson, although I can do shorter or longer lessons, on a pro-rata basis.
